Attracting over 400,000 patrons during its ten day run at the beginning of every summer, the Thee Rivers Arts Festival is one of the largest free arts fests in the world and a long running Pittsburgh tradition Green Gears has been a part of since 2010. The event generates over 5 tons of recycling, 17 tons of compost, and 8 tons of garbage from over 15 food vendors and sponsors across a footprint spanning over 37 acres including a Point State Park and multiple city blocks.

We could not have done this event without Green Gears! They kept everything clean in an efficient and environmentally friendly way, while providing excellent customer service.

Summer 2021 marked a cautious return to festivals and an increased concern for public health, safety, and cleanliness. The City of Pittsburgh partnered with Green Gears to ensure Fourth of July went off without a hitch. This event, which takes place entirely within Point State Park, generates in just one evening .8 tons of recycling and just under 2 tons of garbage from 60 stations and 5 vendors.

Beginning in 1941, the Three River’s Regatta became a regular Pittsburgh tradition by the 1980s. Beginning in 2016, Green Gears managed all aspects of the Regatta’s event waste services for all 600,000 annual attendees across a 45 acre footprint encompassing much of the Allegheny Shoreline, the Clemente bridge, and Point State Park. The yearly event generated 2.4 tons of recycling and 5.6 tons of garbage from over 100 stations and 30 vendors.

Green Gears continue to deliver top-notch turnkey grounds keeping services, effortlessly handling many unique removal needs and last-minute requests. Green Gears is our number one choice for event grounds keeping, trash removal, and overall trash management.

Though a newer festival, Picklesburgh has taken the specialty food festival circuit by storm. Green Gears has gradually come to manage all event waste services for this event which, while it maintains a small footprint, attracts over 200,000 patrons over one weekend in August. The event generated over .2 tons of compost, 2 tons of recycling, and 6 tons of garbage from 20 closely monitored stations and 30 vendors.
