Local fair-trade driven roaster seeks to replace retiring delivery driver with practical and eco-friendly solution.
After a pilot week, we designed and implemented a delivery system utilizing a cargo bicycle that allowed us to take over 90% of La Prima’s deliveries within the City of Pittsburgh with no disruption to their customers’ current receiving schedules. The bike's major asset was its ability to maneuver around Carnegie Mellon University, where La Prima's products are served at seven separate locations, and into the Golden Triangle during morning rush hour.
In six months, we’ve delivered more than 12,000 pounds of coffee, espresso and tea, to wholesale clients in every corner of Pittsburgh. From the historic Southside to Point Breeze to Marshall-Shadeland. Neither snow nor rain nor Polish Hill could stop us. Along the way we spread the word about some great coffee and what a bicycle can do.
